reCYCLO's values place the bicycle at the heart of environmental but also social ambitions. We see the bicycle as a vector of social links allowing everyone to get together, communicate and learn.
The association has opened its doors to volunteers from all walks of life since its inception. Anyone who feels the desire to give their time and energy through mechanics and cycling is welcome to join us during our volunteer slots. All you have to do is push the door!
Since 2018, the association has also joined forces with social partners in order to offer people who have recently arrived in Switzerland or who are in a period of social reintegration the possibility of benefiting from an adapted professional and social framework.
reCYCLO accompanies these people through internships of about 3 months by combining professional training with an experienced mechanic supervisor and social and cultural integration during volunteer evenings where the pleasures of meals and anecdotes at the end of the day are shared in a relaxed musical atmosphere.
Vocational apprenticeship places particular importance on the framework of social workplace norms such as punctuality, commitment and communication, while giving priority to personalised and close learning with one supervisor for every two trainees.
If the activity of the association places bike mechanics as the inherent basis of all the courses, it is also possible to direct the learning towards computer science or customer relations.
Learning French plays an essential role during these courses, where the interns are led to discover a very broad vocabulary around technical and administrative words, but above all everyday language. Whatever their basic level in French, the intern leaves our place with an enriched vocabulary.
The 20 or so internships that reCYCLO has been lucky enough to accompany during its last two years have been very precious to the association and have contributed to a warm and benevolent dynamic bringing together all the volunteers of the association around a multitude of histories, languages and cultures.
We would like to thank our interns and our social partners for their confidence in us for this great adventure and we look forward to the future!
